\nIf you say “home town” in Japanese, it usually means the place where you were born. But in English, “home town” often means the place you think your heart belongs to.
\nFor instance, you were born in California and lived there until you were six, then your family moved to Florida and you went to school there. Out of high school, you went to college in NY where you started your career as a computer programmer after you got your master’s degree in computer science. Would you consider California as your home town? Probably not. Some Americans will say that Florida is their home town because they spent their school days there. Or some will say that NY is their home because they spent the most time of their lives there. Anyways, the definition of home town differs in English.
\nOops, I was going to talk about my home town, but realized there’s not much time left! I was born and raised in Osaka, so I spent most of my life there. I strongly feel that Osaka is my home. It’s a nice place, good food and nice people. I love Osaka. I don’t go back so frequently as my job got busy these days. My old parents live there, so I must visit them more often.
\nI always think that Osaka is like England, and Tokyo is like America. Osakans are more opinionated than Tokyo people, with strong pride in their city and culture, which in some ways is understandable. Compared to Osaka, Tokyo is a young city with many different people across from Japan, so it has more freshness and flexiblity which often leads to generate new values.
